Cupcakes
Today I decided I was going to make a batch of cupcakes with my friend Laquisha. We mixed the batter, and put them in the paper liners. Finally, they were ready to be put in the oven! We waited for about 15 minutes before the cupcakes were done in the oven. Once Laquisha took the cupcakes out of the oven, she let them sit for about five minutes before we frosted them. “Yay!” we cheered! We had the finished frosting the cosmically cute chocolate cupcakes. The cupcakes were like a work of art. Almost too beautiful to spare, but the cupcakes were begging to be eaten! After we both ate a cupcake we were convinced that we weren’t just chefs, we were gods!

Almost too beautiful to spare, but the cupcakes were begging to be eaten!
This is an example of personification because it shows the cupcakes having a feeling. Cupcakes can’t beg to be eaten.

The cupcakes  were like a work of art.
This is an example of a smile because it is saying that the cupcake is like a work of art. “As, or in this case “Like” are easy tells as to whether or not it is a simile or not. This sentence is showing the comparison between the cupcakes and a work of art.

After we both ate a cupcake we were convinced that we weren’t just chefs, we were gods!
This is an example of a metaphor because it is saying that the people were gods.

There were a million people at the house party on Friday.
This is an example of hyperbole because it is a gross exaggeration of a fact. It is highly unlikely that there were “a million people” at the house party.

The pretty pink pony pranced through the daisies.
This is an example of alliteration because it is repeating the first letter (in this case “p”) in multiple words one after the other.

BAM! she slammed the door in her brother’s face.

This is an example of onomatopoeia because it has a sound word.
